As the current President of the Texas Chapter of the International Public Management Association for Human Resources (TX IPMA-HR), I would like to introduce you to our organization and encourage you to become a member.

The Texas Chapter of IPMA-HR strives to provide public sector human resources professionals with opportunities for professional development and networking through our leadership conferences, topic-centered workshops and partnership training with other like-minded organizations.

The Texas chapter was formed in December 2013 through a partnership with the Texas Municipal Human Resources Association (TMHRA). Since its formation, the chapter has held four annual conferences, has a membership base of more than 87 HR professionals and continues its outreach to public sector and quasi-governmental entities throughout Texas.

In just a few short years, TX IPMA-HR has made significant strides in reaching public sector human resources professionals. Our timeline of success includes:

  • March 2015, first annual conference in Austin, Texas
  • February 2016, TX IPMA-HR hosted the Developing Competencies for HR Success certification course in Arlington
  • April 2016, 2nd annual conference on the campus of UTD-Dallas in Richardson
  • July 2017, 3rd annual conference at the Hyatt Lost Pines Resort
  • September 2017, hosted the IPMA-HR national conference in San Antonio
  • May 2018, TX IPMA-HR became an independent non-profit 501(c)(6) organization
  • July 2018, 4th annual conference at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Houston

For 2019, instead of hosting an annual conference, TX IPMA-HR will host several one-day professional development workshops throughout Texas to provide information on topics that are pertinent to today’s public sector human resources professionals. Stay tuned for the workshop that will be held in your area.
